Walther Ppk Serial Numbers Rzm

The Walther PPK (Polizei Pistole Kriminal) was produced since 1930. It was developed for a hidden carriage. The engineers from Walther reduced the length, width and weight. The main difference to the PP is the frame with no back strap. this function was integrated in a single molded Grip. Also the grip was shortened, so the clip has only a capacity of 7 rounds. The shortness was balanced with a magazine-shoe on the bottom.

In 1910, Walther introduced the 'Deutche Selbstlade Pistole Walther' in 6.35mm. When the Model 2 was released in 1914, this pistol became known as the Model 1. These 9 models illustrate the eveloution of Walther pistol design which culminated in the Walther PP (Polizeipistole) introduced in 1929 and the Walther PPK(Polizeipistole Kriminalmodell. I am picking up later this evening a Walther PPK/S. The information I have now is, gun comes with factory box and documentation. Gun looks good from the couple of photos I have received. Serial number is 175319. There are no letter prefixes or after the serial number. Walther Model PPK pistol with 'W' behind the serial number instead of the usual 'K'. On page 68 of WALTHER MODELS PP AND PPK, 1929-1945, James Rankin discusses the 'W' suffix pistols and notes there is no indication what the 'W' indicates. Aside from the 'W' suffix, the pistol finish and markings are identical to 'K' suffix Mod.

The PPK and the PP were also produced very successfully after war. Even James Bond had an Walther PPK.
